A reintroduction to Ophion
September 21 @ 10:30 am - 4:00 pm
A reintroduction to Ophion – Indoor Workshop – Gavin Broad
Gavin Broad is a principal curator at the Natural Historry Museum and works on ichneumonoid wasps. He likes parasitoid wasps and hopes you will too.
Ophion is a genus of nocturnal ichneumonid wasps which are parasitoids of caterpillars. Most species are very similar and identification has always been challenging. Following the lovely work by Johansson & Cederberg (https://europeanjournaloftaxonomy.eu/index.php/ejt/article/view/749) on Swedish Ophion, we now know that there are many more species in Britain. This workshop will introduce the features used to identify Ophion species, their ecology and techniques for collecting and pinning.
Whilst there is no charge for our workshop, nor any need to be a member, by joining you ensure these workshop can continue to be offered.
