THE BRITISH ENTOMOLOGICAL AND NATURAL HISTORY SOCIETY RESPONSE TO COVID-19
Update posted on January 2023.
We wish to assure all of our Members, and everybody else involved with our Society, that the BENHS Council continues to monitor the situation with regard to COVID-19 infections and associated Governmental guidance.
Your health and safety remains of foremost importance to us and your patience, assistance, co-operation and continuing support are very much appreciated.
In 2022 we were able to hold our Annual Meeting in March at Oxford University Museum of Natural History and in November, our Annual Exhibition at Conway Hall in London. At present we plan on holding both of these meetings as in-person events for 2023 and we look forward to welcoming members.
In line with the general opening up of society, we have recommenced a programme of field meetings across 2023 and also restarted the Sunday Open Days and Identification Workshops for Members at Dinton Pastures. The programme of events can be found here.
There are some changes we have made during the pandemic which we have now adopted more permanently. One is that the Society’s AGM is now held online and not as part of the Annual Meeting at Oxford, as is the Brad Ashby Memorial Lecture. Similarly, Council is no longer using Conway Hall for Council meetings but continuing to meet regularly online, along with twice per year in person at Dinton Pastures.
Whilst the country transitions to ‘Living with Covid’, in line with Government guidance we will continue to remain alert to peoples needs and concerns around space sharing, cleanliness and infection rates. Measures remain in place at Dinton Pastures to help people feel safe and we encourage members to speak to us if they have any concerns. Please continue to wear masks and use whatever preventative measures you personally feel necessary to ensure your comfort at any of the society’s events, whether at Dinton Pastures or elsewhere.
