To be held on Saturday 6 February 2010 from 10.30 to 16.00 (note the earlier starting time this year) at The Loddon Room and the BENHS premises at Dinton Pastures Country Park, Davis Street, Hurst, Reading RG10 0GH.

  • 10.40 'The Australasian Cis bilamellatus in Northern Europe': Glenda Orledge.
  • 11.10 'An Introduction to the Silphidae Recording Scheme': Richard Wright.
  • 11.20 'British Beetles for Beginners - a new CD Rom guide': Richard Wright.
  • 11.45 'Beetles from British Wood Pastures, including Richmond Park NNR': Peter Hammond.
  • 12.20 What beetle is that? Photo quiz by Peter Hodge.
  • 12.45 Lunch (bring your own or use the nearby cafe).
  • 14.00 Exhibits in the Loddon Room: please bring specimens, photographs etc for display and discussion.

Pemberley Books will be in attendance in the Loddon Room for the afternoon, selling new and second-hand books and papers on beetles and other insects. You can contact them in advance if you wish to purchase a specific item on the day.

BENHS Library and Collections (including the Joy Collection of British Beetles) will be available for use throughout the afternoon by those attending.

Please note: there is free car parking for this event, just display a BENHS notice in your windscreen (available from the desk in the BENHS Pelham-Clinton Building).

Directions: the grid reference is SU 784718; turn left off the B3030 driving North from Winnersh.  This site is about 15 minutes walk from Winnersh station, which has trains running on about a half-hourly service from Reading and Waterloo.
